The USPTA World Conference on Tennis starts today at the Saddlebrook Resort in Wesley Chapel, Florida. Grant and Eric will be representing reBounces and will be there Monday through Friday. If you’re going, drop them an email at either grant@rebounces.com or eric@rebounces.com and let them demonstrate how the Green Tennis Machine can save you money. You can also catch them on Thursday from 5-10 pm at the Buying Show.

Let’s go Blake Strode!!

Posted on: August 21st, 2011 by admin No Comments

Blake Strode, Tennis All-American and reBounces team memberreBounces has sponsored Blake for the past year and couldn’t be happier to help such a wonderful young man as he makes his way on the ATP Tour.  Blake is a former Razorback All-American when he studied at the University of Arkansas … yes studied, he had a 3.976 (yes just one or two ‘Bs’ in four years of university) with a double major no less AND is currently deferring Harvard Law!  To the adults that are reading this — hopefully all our kids will grow up and be as talented as Blake on one area of their life yet alone two or three.

Blake is playing in the Finals of the US Open National Playoff – vying for a Wild Card into the US Open Qualifying Draw, which is a $1 million dollar tournament for one of 16 direct entries into the US Open.  Got that… win 6 matches in your USTA sectional, then win 4 matches at the National Playoff, then win 3 matches and you get to be in the first round of the US OPEN!!!  9 down and only 4 more to go for Blake to make history.

Blake won the National Playoff last year and made it within a two matches of the US Open main draw.  This year, Blake has won 2 Futures tournaments and went to the Quarters of another Challenger.  He will be ranked around 400 in the world next week and hopefully will be chasing his dream again in the Big Apple.

Good Luck today Blake and hopefully we’ll see you in NYC in a few days.

Ken-Caryl Ranch

Three cheers for Judy Anderson and the team at Ken-Caryl Ranch located just south west of Denver, Colorado — they are the first to utilize the Green Tennis Machine with “high altitude” tennis balls.  In case you’ve been wondering, a high altitude tennis ball has lower pressure than a standard tennis ball.  Judy was kind enough to give us this quick testimonial:

reBounces Green Tennis MachineKen-Caryl Ranch has been implementing sustainable practices for many years now from retrofitting light bulbs to recycling old used tennis shoes and was excited when approached by reBounces to be the first in the state of Colorado (high altitude) to try the Green Tennis Machine. We were a little skeptical about the ability to revitalize used tennis balls but after a few trial runs to dial in the correct amount of time we decided immediately that we had to have one. We call our Green Tennis Machine “Raji” (taken from Green Bay Packers nose tackle) and it is easy to use and has become an important part of our program. We are able to provide balls for lessons that have a consistent bounce while keeping them out of landfills and with a substantial savings to our budget. Not only do the balls not go to landfills but also the number of empty cans are reduced tremendously. Every club should be using a Green Machine.

There you have it… putting the bounce back in your balls, consistent bounce for lessons and reducing landfill waste from tennis balls and tennis cans.

400,000 Balls … and Bryan Brothers at Davis Cup

We crossed over 400,000 tennis balls collected… some of the more random uses of balls have been:

  • to make chairs
  • to make art (we will have an update on that later)
  • to test lawn mowing equipment
  • to use in an architecture project
  • to use inside of a hand-sewn baseball

However our preference is to put them back on the court over and over.

We are just getting back from watching the Bryan Brothers keep the US in the Tie versus Spain. I have some photos and a quick video for you… The match was unbelievable and it felt like Fish and Roddick are going to pull out the win for the US.

Davis Cup Update

Wow!  No other description really captures the crowd and atmosphere here in Austin, Texas.  (perhaps unbelievable as a good friend would say, but I’m going with wow)  Never been to a match with cheerleaders, a live marching band (pared down of course), and cow bells… yes lots of Texas cow bells (would bring a tear to Will Ferrell’s eye).

We landed, rushed over to the Tie and got to see Mardy Fish vs. Feliciano Lopez… It went to extra innings in the 5th and Lopez was able to capture the victory for Spain at 8/6 in that last set.  Then Roddick came out aggressive versus Ferrer, however came up short in the end as it didn’t seem he could catch a break or cord all match.

In case you didn’t know, reBounces is an honorary Texas company due to our four Green Tennis Machines sold here: one (the first one sold) in Dallas and three in Houston.  If you look at the happy customer map you won’t see three in Houston… that’s because the press release hasn’t been finalized for the most recent sale.

Enjoy some pics of the matches ….

Trip Update

Posted on: June 23rd, 2011 by admin 1 Comment

I love being delayed by 1.5 hours in the airport, but I’ll be home soon enough!!

The trip to Dallas was a success – got to meet up with Carl Neufeld at SMU — what an impressive record and a great group of kids he works with year-in and year-out!!  Also was able to talk with Bob Raedisch at T Bar M Racquet Club.  Bob and the team there are still enjoying their Green Tennis Machine AND the $15,000+ savings it is providing each year.  YES you read that right — they have been saving over $15,000 per year with their Green Tennis Machine!!!

Eric Korita's ShoeIn Chicago, I was able to meet up with Eric Korita and place three more GTMs in the Chicago area.  Also we were able to stop by North Shore RC, A.C. Nielsen and East Bank Club… where we recorded fabulous testimonials.  reBounces has sold five Green Tennis Machines in Chicago and we’re showing no signs of slowing down.  We’ll post videos of the testimonials over the next week as they get edited.

Also… any guess as to Eric Korita’s shoe size???

Universal Tennis Academy

Universal Tennis Academy

Thanks again to the Universal Tennis Academy in Atlanta for taking the plunge earlier this year when they bought a Green Tennis Machine.  We recently caught up with Tim Noonan and here is what he has to say –

“The Green Tennis Machine is the most significant product to hit the tennis world in years. As academy owners we see the substantial financial commitment we make to keep quality tennis balls in our teaching carts.  The Green Tennis Machine ensures that every ball that we feed bounces, and the savings we gain from having multiple cycles with our balls has been tremendous. In addition to our benefits, reBounces really strives to keep old balls out of our landfills.  It is good for the sport and good for the planet, and that’s a winning combination!”

Tim Noonan, David Drew, David Stolle, and Patti O’Reilly

This is humbling considering there are 130+ Collegiate Players that UTA has produced and they run programming at seven locations across the metro area including The Bitsy Grant Tennis Center.

Green Tennis in the United States

Posted on: June 13th, 2011 by admin No Comments

Quick update for those of you keeping track.   reBounces’ most recent club sale has resulted in an installed annual recycling capacity of over 1,000,000 tennis balls.

  • Fact – the GTMs sold to clubs have capacity to recycle 1M+ balls per year.
  • Our take – We have a long way to go … but reBounces has sold GTMs to over 15 clubs in 9 states across the US (coast to coast, literally) and every club that tries our Green Tennis Machine agrees — the ability to repressurize tennis balls could not have been brought to market at a better time as clubs are trying to save money and their customers expect green.
